Brendan Gleeson Joins Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in ‘Joker 2’
The original Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix was released in 2019 and it received widespread acclaim. The movie grossed more than a billion dollars, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time and it was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, winning two of them, for Best Actor and Best Original Score.
Earlier this year, writer and director Todd Phillips announced that he finished the script for the sequel with Phoenix set to return in the titular role. Shortly after the official announcement, Lady Gaga joined the cast as Harley Quinn, and Zazie Beetz is also set to reprise her role from the first movie.
Now, according to Deadline, Brendan Gleeson joined the cast of Joker 2, officially titled Joker: Folie à Deux (Joker: Madness for Two). Gleeson is a veteran Irish actor known for playing Alastor Moody in the Harry Potter movie series, and he also starred in known movies such as Mel Gibson’s Braveheart and Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York.
Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released on October 4, 2022.
