Nintendo has released the first full trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans their first official look at the upcoming sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie from 2023. The new film draws heavily from the Super Mario Galaxy games, as its title suggests.

The trailer introduces new characters, including the cosmic princess Rosalina and Bowser Jr., the main antagonist. Rosalina will be voiced by Brie Larson, known for her role in Marvel movies, while Bowser Jr. will be voiced by Benny Safdie, co-director of Uncut Gems.

Fans were hoping to see Yoshi in the trailer after leaks appeared earlier this week through some Pillsbury cookie packaging. However, the green dinosaur has not yet been officially revealed.

Ahead of the movie, Nintendo has also released ports of the Wii classics Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on Switch and Switch 2. These are the first versions of the games available on Switch consoles, though the new ports come with some changes to the controls.

The original Super Mario Bros. Movie remains the highest-grossing video game adaptation worldwide. It is closely followed by the recent Minecraft Movie. Nintendo will be hoping that the Galaxy sequel performs even better at the box office.
