Britney Spears Slams Her Family in Late Christmas Instagram Post
Britney Spears used Instagram on Sunday to send a belated Christmas message that also called out her estranged family. The pop star, 44, shared a photo of a decorated Christmas tree with her 42 million followers.
Her caption had a sharp, sarcastic tone. She wrote, “Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix.”

Spears has been estranged from her family since her conservatorship ended in 2021. Her father, Jamie Spears, controlled her life and finances under the legal arrangement that started in 2008. Spears has been very vocal about the ordeal. In 2021, she said, “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship … they should be in jail.”
In her memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears claimed that both her parents took her “womanhood” from her during the conservatorship while still profiting from her live performances.
Despite the family tension, Spears spent Christmas with her 19-year-old son, Jayden. A source told People magazine, “Britney had a fun time celebrating Christmas with Jayden — it’s been such a special holiday.”
Her other son, Sean Preston, celebrated in Louisiana with the family of Spears’ sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, sharing photos on Instagram.
Their father, Kevin Federline, released his own memoir, You Thought You Knew, this year. He told Talk Shop Live that Spears had resumed contact with their sons after his book came out, adding, “They absolutely love their mom, right? I mean, they always, always have, always will… I’ve always wanted for them to have a connection with their mom, the way I have with my mom.”
Spears, however, was critical of Federline’s book and accused him of gaslighting her. She said, “I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”
She continued, “Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by [their] own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.”
Spears ended her Instagram post with a sweet note for her 7-year-old niece Ivey, writing, “Hello.. I just want to hold you, my love.” She concluded with, “Godspeed, friends.”
