Liden Films’ Call of the Night anime adaptation is officially getting a second season, as has been confirmed by the producers on the series official X (formerly Twitter) account:

The first season of the series premiered on July 8, 2022, and contained a total of 13 episodes, building on the success of Kotoyama’s 24-volume manga series which won the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2023. The manga series officially ended on January 24, 2024 after five years of publication.

Alongside the announcement, an official teaser visual for the upcoming season was released:

As well as a short teaser trailer:

No official release window has been given, but based on how the anime industry works, the series is going to premiere either later this year or in 2025. The official synopsis for the series tells us the following:

Wracked by insomnia and wanderlust, Ko Yamori is driven onto the moonlit streets every night in an aimless search for something he can’t seem to name. His nightly ritual is marked by purposeless introspection — until he meets Nazuna, who might just be a vampire! Ko’s new companion could offer him dark gifts and a vampire’s immortality. But there are conditions that must be met before Ko can sink his teeth into vampirism, and he’ll have to discover just how far he’s willing to go to satisfy his desires before he can heed the Call of the Night!

The series is going to air on Fuji TV as part of its Noitamina block, which also aired the first season of the show. Currently, it is unknown whether the same staff at Leiden Films will produce the second season of the anime, but there probably won’t be any major changes from the first season of the show. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for international distribution and while you’re waiting for the second season, you can check out the complete first season of Call of the Night on HIDIVE, which has all the episodes available for streaming at this time.
