Callum Turner Opens Up About His Adorable First Meeting with Dua Lipa
Callum Turner has opened up about the moment he first met his fiancée, Dua Lipa, and it sounds like a story from a movie.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, the 35-year-old actor described meeting the 30-year-old pop star over drinks before a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles.
Turner said they discovered they were reading the same book. “It’s called Trust [by Hernán Díaz] and I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So we’re on the same page,’” he told the newspaper.
He added that the moment felt magical. “In the movie version of it I look up to the sky and I’m like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don’t worry. And that was really the first [moment],” Turner said.
The pair sparked romance rumors in January 2024 after they were spotted together following the Masters of the Air premiere in London. Later that month, they were seen sharing a kiss during a date in Los Angeles.
By July, the couple confirmed their relationship on Instagram when Lipa shared photos of Turner from Glastonbury Festival. They also made their red carpet debut at the 2025 Met Gala.
Earlier this year, Lipa confirmed to British Vogue that they are engaged. “Yeah, we’re engaged. It’s very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever – it’s a really special feeling,” she said.
Lipa also spoke about their relationship in Harper’s BAZAAR in August. “I love love. It is a beautiful thing. It’s a really inspiring thing. You find yourself so intensely falling all the time in the best way possible,” she said. She added that being vulnerable can be scary, but she feels lucky to experience it.
“That vulnerability is so scary, but I feel so lucky to get to feel it. I’ve spent a lot of time being guarded or protecting my heart, and so I’m letting go of that feeling and just being like, ‘Okay, if I’m supposed to get hurt, then this is what’s going to happen.’ I have to just allow love.”
Speaking about Turner specifically, Lipa said she has never been happier. “So it feels like I’m doing a disservice by not talking about it,” she explained.
Their story shows how a simple moment, like bonding over a book, can grow into a lasting relationship. Turner and Lipa’s romance has been public, but their openness makes it feel genuine and relatable.
