Cameron Diaz, 53, Goes Makeup-Free for Solo Outing in New York City Amid Movie Buzz
Cameron Diaz was recently spotted enjoying a casual winter walk through New York City. The 53-year-old actress was seen dressed for the cold in a black puffer jacket paired with relaxed sweatpants and sturdy black boots.
Keeping her hands free, she wore a practical black fanny pack and was observed checking her phone while navigating a local park on Wednesday afternoon, February 18. This sighting follows a surge of excitement regarding the future of one of her most iconic franchises.
Sony Pictures recently confirmed that a new Charlie’s Angels movie is currently in early development. Diaz previously played Natalie Cook alongside Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in the blockbuster adaptations released in 2000 and 2003. While the studio has hired screenwriter Pete Chiarelli to pen the new script, official casting details have not yet been released.

The possibility of a reunion has sparked significant nostalgia among fans of the original trio. Reports suggest that Drew Barrymore’s production company, Flower Films, is involved in the reboot, which has only added fuel to the rumors that the original stars might return. Whether they would lead the film or simply appear to pass the torch to a new generation of Angels remains a mystery.
For now, industry insiders have noted that it is too early to confirm if Diaz and her former co-stars will be officially suiting up again. Aside from the Angels chatter, Diaz has been staying busy with several high-profile projects following her return to acting. She recently completed the action-comedy Back in Action for Netflix, which marked her first film role in over a decade.
Fans are also looking forward to her next major release, the Apple Original film Outcome, which is scheduled to premiere on April 10. This dark comedy features an ensemble cast including Keanu Reeves, Jonah Hill, and Matt Bomer, and follows a Hollywood star forced to confront his past after being extorted.
In addition to her live-action work, Diaz is set to return to the recording booth for the highly anticipated Shrek 5. She will once again provide the voice for Princess Fiona, reuniting with original cast members Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy.
Outside of her professional life, she has been focusing on family time with her husband, Benji Madden, and their two children, Raddix and Cardinal. She also continues to oversee her organic wine brand, Avaline, which has remained a successful venture during her time away from the big screen.
The actress is also reportedly in pre-production for a new romantic comedy co-starring Stephen Merchant. Between her upcoming thrillers and her return to beloved animated franchises, Diaz appears to be fully embracing her “un-retirement” phase.
As her schedule fills up with diverse roles, her recent walk in New York suggests she is finding moments of quiet before a very busy year of premieres. With so many projects on the horizon, her presence in the industry is as strong as it was during her early-2000s peak.
