Cara Delevingne Finally Confirms The Amber Heard Romance Everyone Suspected

Cara Delevingne has spent nearly a decade dodging questions about her closeness with Amber Heard, and the rumors have followed her through every red carpet and interview since the Johnny Depp divorce first made headlines. Fans have speculated for years about what really happened between the two women during that turbulent chapter of Heard’s life. The mystery has only grown louder as both women moved on to very different public trajectories.

Delevingne, who rose to fame as a Victoria’s Secret model before pivoting into acting with roles in ‘Paper Towns’ and ‘Suicide Squad,’ has always kept her personal life fairly guarded. That changed this week when she sat down for a candid conversation that finally addressed the elephant in the room.

Speaking on a new episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast, Delevingne was asked directly by Theroux about “the Johnny Depp thing,” referencing longstanding rumors that she had been involved with Heard while Heard was going through her divorce from Depp. Delevingne explained that suspicions first took root because she and Heard filmed ‘London Fields’ together in 2013, a project Depp also had a small role in, and that he was “pretty driven crazy by jealousy” over their closeness even though nothing was happening between them at the time.

Depp and Heard had begun dating in 2011 and married in 2014, before splitting after roughly 15 months together and finalizing their divorce the following year. Delevingne clarified that the romance with Heard did not actually begin until after Heard and Depp had already gone their separate ways, telling Theroux she and Heard “were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled.”

The admission put to rest years of tabloid speculation, but Delevingne was quick to note that Heard was not exclusively involved with her during that period either. When Theroux pointed out that Heard was “also entangled with other people,” specifically naming Elon Musk, Delevingne simply replied, “There you go.” Heard had filed for divorce from Depp in May 2016, a split that eventually spiraled into years of bruising legal battles between the former couple.

Those battles culminated in a 2022 defamation trial that Depp won, with the actor awarded $15 million in damages while Heard received $2 million in compensatory damages on a countersuit. Heard has since relocated to Spain, where she is raising her three children away from the Hollywood spotlight that once defined her career.

Delevingne’s podcast appearance covered plenty of ground beyond the Heard revelation. She also opened up about taking comments from disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein “to heart,” recalling that he once called her up and bluntly asked, “Are you gay?” The actress guest starred on the podcast’s seventh season, joining other high profile guests like Yorgos Lanthimos, Boris Becker and Kyle MacLachlan.

Now that Delevingne has finally confirmed what fans long suspected, the question is whether this changes how people view the tangled web of relationships that once dominated Depp and Heard’s messy split. Do you think Delevingne owed the public this confirmation, or should the truth about her and Heard’s romance have stayed private?
