Catherine Zeta-Jones Trades Chicago Glamour for Shotguns in First ‘Kill Jackie’ Trailer

Revenge thrillers have become something of a crowded genre on streaming, but few come stacked with the kind of pedigree behind ‘Kill Jackie.’ The series marks a striking tonal shift for an actress best known for musical theater roots and awards-season darlings, proving she’s far from done reinventing herself on screen.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has spent the past few years balancing prestige film work with buzzy television, most recently drawing a new generation of fans through her role in Netflix’s ‘Wednesday.’ Her latest project pushes her even further from familiar territory, into a world of hitmen, hidden weapons and international intrigue.

The first trailer for ‘Kill Jackie’ has officially arrived, and it wastes no time throwing Zeta-Jones into the action. The footage shows her character firing shotguns, dispatching home-invading assassins with guns concealed inside artwork, and fleeing across the globe by private plane, all while a premiere date of October 2 on AMC+ has been locked in.

Zeta-Jones stars as Jackie Price, a former international drug smuggler who has spent two decades quietly rebuilding her life as an art dealer. That carefully constructed anonymity collapses when she learns that The Seven Demons, a squad of elite hired killers, have been contracted to end her life.

Rather than run, Jackie turns the tables, setting out to hunt down each member of the crew before they can reach her. Along the way, the trailer teases a visual nod to ’28 Days Later,’ with Zeta-Jones seen limping across a deserted Westminster Bridge in hospital scrubs reminiscent of Cillian Murphy’s iconic scene.

Joining Zeta-Jones on the eight-episode series are Daniel Ings, Bill Paterson and Ron Perlman, rounding out a cast built to match the show’s blend of dark comedy and pulpy violence. The project comes from the creative minds behind ‘Killing Eve’ and ‘Gangs of London,’ two series well versed in blending stylish action with sharp, character-driven storytelling.

‘Kill Jackie’ is based on the novel The Price You Pay by Sunday Times bestselling author Nick Harkaway, writing under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen. Zeta-Jones also serves as an executive producer on the series, giving her creative input that extends well beyond her performance in front of the camera.

Speaking about taking on the project when it was first announced, Zeta-Jones said she was thrilled to be part of ‘Kill Jackie’ both behind and in front of the camera, adding that bringing the multifaceted character to life and exploring a female-driven story about empowerment, identity and redemption was something she was looking forward to, according to Variety.

Fremantle’s global drama and film boss Christian Vesper echoed that enthusiasm, describing the series as an irreverent and contemporary thriller that is simultaneously dramatic, escapist and darkly comedic, while praising Zeta-Jones for shining in the lead role alongside the show’s twisting storyline and international backdrop.

While the series will premiere on AMC+ in the United States, it’s also set to reach international audiences through Prime Video in the UK, Ireland and several other territories, along with additional partners like Stan in Australia and Globoplay in Brazil. That kind of simultaneous global rollout underscores just how much confidence distributors are placing in the project.

With a title as blunt as ‘Kill Jackie’ and a trailer that leans hard into shootouts, secret weapons and globe-trotting escapes, the series looks positioned to stand out in an increasingly saturated field of revenge thrillers. Whether it delivers on the darkly comedic promise its creative team has described will become clear once episodes start airing on October 2.
