Charlie Sheen recently opened up about his high school years and shared that he and Robert Downey Jr. were classmates at Santa Monica High School.

The actor discussed these memories during an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast.

Sheen explained that while he and Downey Jr. were in the same grade, Downey Jr. was closer friends with Sheen’s brother Ramon Estevez. “Well, yeah, but it’s interesting. He was friends with my brother Ramon. Okay. Ramon’s between Emilio [Estevez] and myself, right? And so they were like buddies for a long time. So I would see Downey because Downey and I were in the same grade,” Sheen recalled.

Despite being in the same class, Sheen didn’t see Downey Jr. much at school. He noted that Downey Jr. started working professionally at a young age and was heavily involved in theater. “But I think he started working earlier than the rest of us. Or was at least doing things theatrically that didn’t keep him on the campus. So, he had like a legitimate reason to not be there, unlike me, you know, playing video games in Westwood with my buddy Pat,” Sheen added.

Sheen later followed Downey Jr. into Hollywood, and the two became part of the Brat Pack alongside stars like Rob Lowe and Sean Penn, who also attended Santa Monica High. This connection highlighted how many future Hollywood stars crossed paths during their school years.

During the podcast, Sheen also shared a memory about his first car. He joked that people often make fun of the fact that his first vehicle was a Ford Escort. The actor explained that owning a car gave him his first taste of independence. Later, he convinced his mother to buy him a 1982 BMW 320, marking a significant upgrade in his teenage years.

Reflecting on these memories, Sheen painted a picture of growing up surrounded by talented peers while navigating the usual teenage experiences. His anecdotes remind fans that even Hollywood stars have humble beginnings and formative moments that shape their paths.

From my perspective, it’s fascinating to see how early connections and shared experiences can shape a career. It’s also interesting to learn about the ordinary teenage lives of actors who later became household names. What do you think about these early Hollywood connections?
