Charlize Theron (50) Freaks Out Over Snake While Promoting ‘Apex’
Charlize Theron had a strong reaction during a recent promo for her new film “Apex,” and it quickly caught attention online. The moment comes from a promotional video released as part of the film’s media campaign.
Theron appeared alongside co-star Taron Egerton in a blind box challenge. In the game, both actors had to reach into a box and guess what they were touching without seeing it.
Egerton went first and stayed calm while feeling around his box. After a moment, he correctly guessed that the item was beef jerky. He seemed confident and relaxed, even pointing out that it was not alive.
Theron then tried to figure out what was inside her own box. Based on Egerton’s answer, she quickly guessed that hers could be something very different. She suspected it might be a snake.
When she finally reached in and touched it, her reaction changed fast. She pulled back and screamed after realizing that it was indeed a snake. The moment added a mix of humor and tension to the promo.

The clip is part of the promotion for “Apex,” a survival action thriller that was released on Netflix on April 24. The film is directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Jeremy Robbins.
The story follows Sasha, played by Charlize Theron, a rock climber who ends up fighting to stay alive in the wild while being hunted. Taron Egerton plays Ben, while Eric Bana appears as Tommy, Sasha’s late husband. Matt Whelan is also part of the cast.
The project was first picked up by Netflix in early 2024, according to production reports. Several producers were involved, including Ian Bryce and Chernin Entertainment. Charlize Theron also worked as a producer on the film. Taron Egerton joined the cast later in 2024, with Eric Bana coming on board in early 2025.
This promo moment works well because it feels real. It shows a different side of the actors and helps people connect with them before watching the film. It also makes the promotion more fun and easy to share. What do you think about this moment and the film itself? Share your thoughts in the comments.
