‘Chicago P.D.’ Takes a Dark Turn in New Season 12 Preview

The latest season of ‘Chicago P.D.’ is putting Adam Ruzek (played by Patrick John Flueger) through some tough times. Season 12 started with him losing his partner, who was very close to him. Now, as the show shifts its focus back to him, the next case promises to be just as, if not more, emotionally challenging.

In Episode 10, titled “Zoe,” a young girl shares some shocking details that leave Ruzek stunned. Meanwhile, Ruzek and Burgess face their own struggles when someone unexpected shows up, adding tension between them.

NBC recently released a sneak peek of the episode, showing the mystery surrounding the girl’s case and the grim discoveries that come with it. Here’s the official description for the January 15 episode:

In the sneak peek, Ruzek meets Zoe, a mysterious young girl. No one knows who she is or where she came from, but Ruzek is determined to find out. During their conversation, Zoe calmly reveals that she’s had many moms and siblings, then adds chillingly, “They’re all dead now.” Ruzek is shocked by her blunt words.

As he digs deeper, Ruzek uncovers several human remains belonging to women and children. However, the biggest question remains: “Who is this girl?

While Ruzek works on this dark case, he’s also dealing with problems in his personal life. The official description hints at an unexpected visitor, likely his father, Disco Bob (Jack Coleman). Actress Marina Squerciati, who plays Burgess, recently shared (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Disco Bob’s visit will create tension in their relationship.

“Right now, we’re doing a big Patty two-parter episode and we have ‘Disco Bob,’ his dad, sort of putting a wedge into our relationship. It is kind of something that every couple deals with, with in-laws. It’s really interesting, and I don’t think I can say exactly what’s going on, but it’s going to test us. And I like it because it’s very much something that everyone is going to go through.”

So far, it’s unclear why Disco Bob is in town or why he disapproves of Ruzek and Burgess. Fans will have to watch to see how it all plays out.

Don’t miss Chicago P.D. on NBC on January 15 to find out what happens next. You can also catch up on earlier episodes of the show on Peacock.
