Chris Hemsworth Admits He Had to “Bribe” Daughter India to Come to Avengers: Doomsday Set
Chris Hemsworth recently shared a funny behind-the-scenes story about filming the upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, involving his teenage daughter, India Rose Hemsworth. The actor, who plays Thor, revealed on The View that he had to “bribe” his 13-year-old to get her to come to the set and film her scenes.
“She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one,” Chris explained, referring to India’s role in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder. He recalled how she walked onto the set and immediately asked, “Ugh, how long is this gonna take?” Chris laughed, adding, “We haven’t even started!”
Things got even trickier after their first take, when India asked, “Are we done?” Chris told her they still had a few more days of filming, and she responded with typical teenage exasperation. “She’s like, ‘Aww, God,’” he said. Chris described her attitude as “just this angsty, sort of teenage attitude” and said she would often retreat to a chair or her tent between takes.
To get her back on set, Chris admitted he had to offer some incentives. India initially complained about not being paid, and Chris explained her earnings would be saved until she turned 18. She immediately wanted some of the money upfront. “She goes, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,’” he recalled. Even the film’s co-director Joe Russo got involved to help convince her to keep filming.
Chris also shared that part of India’s reluctance was because she wanted to attend a Billie Eilish concert. “She’s like, ‘When’s it?’ I’m like, ‘It doesn’t start yet! We’re not gonna miss it! Just get on set!’” Eventually, Chris persuaded her by reminding her the money could go toward a motorbike she wanted. “…Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?” she asked, and Chris said, “You possibly could.” That little bit of negotiation was enough to get her back to work.
Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters on December 18, will feature both Chris and India, alongside other stars including Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romjin, and Robert Downey Jr., who returns as the villain Dr. Doom.
Chris is also dad to twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 11, whom he shares with wife Elsa Pataky.
