Chris Hemsworth Breaks Silence on Rumored ‘Thor 5’

Chris Hemsworth has spoken about the future of Thor, but fans still don’t have a solid answer about whether another solo movie is on the way.

Marvel fans have been speculating for months about a possible Thor 5. The idea has grown louder recently, but nothing has been confirmed by Marvel Studios.

Director Taika Waititi, who worked on the last two Thor films, previously made it clear that another sequel wasn’t on his schedule. That seemed to put the rumors on hold for a while.

Later, whispers started again when Hemsworth teamed up with George Miller on Furiosa. Some believed Miller could step in as director for a new Thor movie, but that talk quickly faded and no real plans came out of it.

Now, Hemsworth himself has addressed the subject. Speaking in an interview with BBC, he explained that the future of Thor depends on how Marvel’s next big projects play out.

When asked about Thor 5, Hemsworth said:
“I don’t know. We’ll see where [Avengers: Doomsday] goes. We’re sort of unpacking all of that as we speak and figuring out where each of these characters go.”

What is certain, however, is that Hemsworth will return in Avengers: Doomsday. This massive crossover film is already confirmed as part of Marvel’s Phase Six lineup. Talking about joining the cast again, Hemsworth said:

“When we parted ways on the last film we didn’t know if we were going to be doing this again and here we are. Some of the old crew like myself, and then a lot of the new folks are coming in. It’s wild.”

Marvel has announced that Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters in the United States on December 18, 2026. A direct sequel, Secret Wars, is scheduled for December 17, 2027. According to the official outline, the new Avengers film will see Earth’s mightiest heroes team up with Wakanda, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and even the original X-Men to face Doctor Doom.

For fans, the excitement isn’t only about Thor’s return but also the hope of seeing Chris Hemsworth reunite with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki on the big screen.

It feels like Marvel is leaving the door open for Thor 5, but nothing is set in stone yet. Hemsworth’s comments make it clear that the storylines from the upcoming Avengers films will decide what happens next.
