Chris Pratt has some strong opinions about superheroes, and he isn’t afraid to share them. While promoting his newest film, the actor took a moment to praise a fellow Marvel star. He revealed that Tom Holland is his absolute favorite Spider-Man.

This topic came up during a recent conversation with Josh Horowitz. Pratt is currently doing a press tour for his new sci-fi movie, Mercy. However, it is impossible for him to avoid questions about his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Pratt is best known for playing Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord. It is hard to imagine anyone else in the role today. Yet, back in 2013, the casting choice was a huge surprise to many people.

Pratt admitted to Horowitz that he was not in shape when he first met with Marvel boss Kevin Feige. He had gained a significant amount of weight for a comedy movie called Delivery Man. He told the host that he had “gotten up to 300 pounds” for that role with Vince Vaughn.

Feige needed to see if Pratt could physically transform for the action role. During their meeting, Feige held up a picture of a fit Pratt from the movie Zero Dark Thirty. He simply asked the actor, “Can you do that again?”

Pratt was desperate for the job and made a bold promise. He asked how long he had to get ready. When Feige gave him a timeline of six or seven months, Pratt was confident.

He recalled thinking, “Dude, I’ll kick that guy’s a** in seven months.” The studio called him on his way home to offer him the part. He could barely believe it was real.

Before he became the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt tried to be other heroes. He told Horowitz that he had unsuccessful auditions for Captain America and a role in Thor. He even sent in an audition tape to play Superman in Man of Steel.

He recorded the Superman audition at his mother’s house in Washington. Looking back, he knows he was not the right choice for the Man of Steel. He joked about his own performance, saying, “Dude, I would not cast that guy as Superman.”

Now that his friend and director James Gunn is in charge of DC Studios, rumors are flying. Fans have wondered if Pratt might switch universes to play Batman. Pratt quickly shut that idea down with a funny story.

He sent Gunn a photoshopped picture of himself wearing the Batman cowl. Gunn’s response was very short. He just wrote back, “Haha.”

Pratt agrees that he isn’t the right fit for the Dark Knight. He explained, “I don’t think I would be right for that.” He feels that there have been too many versions of Batman already and he doesn’t want to do it.

Chris Pratt has certainly come a long way since his early days in Hollywood. He first became famous for playing the lovable and goofy Andy Dwyer on the sitcom Parks and Recreation. That show ran for seven seasons and made him a comedy star.

He proved he could be an action star with Jurassic World. He played Owen Grady in the trilogy, which made billions of dollars at the box office. This cemented his status as a leading man who could carry major blockbusters.

Recently, Pratt has become a major voice in the world of animation. He voiced the iconic plumber in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. That film was a massive global hit for Nintendo and Illumination.

He also provided the voice for the lasagna-loving cat in The Garfield Movie. Despite these family-friendly roles, he is still working on gritty projects. He stars in and produces The Terminal List for Amazon Prime Video.

In that series, he plays a Navy SEAL seeking revenge. It was a huge hit for the streaming service. A prequel series is already in the works because fans loved it so much.

His current focus is his new movie, Mercy. This film is a sci-fi thriller set in the near future. The story takes place in a world where capital crime has increased.

Pratt plays a detective who is accused of a violent crime. He must prove his innocence while navigating a dangerous world. The movie is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who is known for his unique visual style.

Fans are excited to see Pratt return to the sci-fi genre. He manages to balance his time between action movies, comedies, and voice work very well. He is also a dedicated family man who spends time on his farm when he isn’t filming.

We want to know if you would like to see Chris Pratt return as Star-Lord or if you think he should try a different superhero role in the comments.
