Chris Pratt Says Marvel Fans Attacked Him On The Streets Over This MCU Scene
Chris Pratt is opening up about how one Marvel movie moment followed him into real life. The actor recently spoke about the strong fan reaction to Avengers: Infinity War and how it led to uncomfortable encounters in public.
According to Pratt, some Marvel fans blamed him personally for what happened in the film. He said the reaction did not stay online. It showed up on the street. Pratt shared the story while appearing on the podcast Out of Order, where he explained that fans would approach him and confront him about Star-Lord’s actions in the movie.
In Infinity War, Pratt’s character Peter Quill loses control during a key scene. That moment allows Thanos to escape and later wipe out half of all life in the universe. Many fans have blamed Star-Lord for ruining the plan, and Pratt says that anger turned personal.
On the street, they’d come up to me like, Why’d you do it, man? Pratt said during the podcast. He explained that people spoke to him as if he made the choice himself. I’m like, I didn’t do anything! he added.
Pratt also joked about the situation, saying the movie would have ended very quickly if that scene never happened. Also, if Quill hadn’t done that, the two movies would’ve been thirty minutes long. We got him. Roll credits, he said.
The actor explained that the experience felt different because he was not the main focus of the film. He said Infinity War was not a Guardians of the Galaxy movie and that the tone and leadership behind the scenes were different without director James Gunn fully guiding the character.
Despite the backlash, Pratt’s career has continued at full speed. He is currently starring in the sci-fi thriller Mercy, which reached the top of the box office in January. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and centers on a future where AI judges control the justice system. Pratt plays a detective accused of murder, alongside Rebecca Ferguson, who voices the artificial intelligence.
Pratt is also set to return as Mario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, scheduled for release in April 2026. The animated sequel includes voices from Brie Larson and Jack Black. On television, he will reprise his role as James Reece in season two of The Terminal List, titled True Believer, which is expected to arrive on Prime Video later this year.
While no new Marvel project has been confirmed, Pratt has hinted that there is still a plan for Star-Lord’s future. He said there is a strong vision in place, even if details remain private.
According to Pratt’s comments on Out of Order, the actor has made peace with being tied to one of the most debated scenes in MCU history. Even after facing real-world reactions from fans, he continues to move forward with major film and TV projects, staying firmly in the spotlight.
