Jonathan Majors first appeared in the MCU as Victor Timely in 2021, and later as Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in 2023. This movie kicked off Phase 5, starting the Multiverse Saga. However, “Quantumania” didn’t do too well. To make matters worse, right after the movie came out, Majors, who played the new main villain for the upcoming MCU phases, was arrested.

He was accused of hitting someone in the face, causing a cut behind their ear, and grabbing their hand and neck, which supposedly led to a bruised neck and a broken finger. Although Majors’ lawyers said these accusations were false, he was still found guilty and Disney fired him.

Now, there’s a lot of talk about who might replace him, with some saying the character Doom might take over as the main villain, and others suggesting that the “Kang Dynasty” movie might be dropped. The latest news is that the movie previously known as “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” is now just being called “Avengers 5.” It’s not clear if Marvel Studios will stick with Kang as the villain or go in a different direction, but there’s plenty of guessing going on.

Colman Domingo was mentioned as a possible replacement for Majors, and he talked about these rumors in an interview with Comicbook.com.

It’s funny how people are online talking about this. And the moment it started happening, literally, I think I was on my couch. And I was like, ‘What rumor? Who? Where’s this coming from?’ I just didn’t think about it. The next day I woke up, it’s everywhere.

Colman also said he doesn’t know if the rumors are true right now because that’s not how he usually finds out through his agents.

You know, listen. My team has had conversations with Marvel about some aspect of the MCU for years. Do I know this to be true or not? I actually don’t know. I feel like my team doesn’t bring me something unless it’s real. So I don’t know. I could be in conversation, but I’m not sure. I would welcome a conversation around it.

The Oscar nominee appreciated the community’s support and felt honored that people are talking about him positively.

The fans are passionate. Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing.

Even if Domingo doesn’t land the role of Kang the Conqueror, his career is still going strong. He started off with roles in ‘Law & Order’ and ‘The Big Gay Sketch Show,’ then gained fame as Victor Strand in ‘Fear the Walking Dead.’ He even won a Primetime Emmy for his performance in ‘Euphoria’ in 2022. His movie credits include ‘Lincoln,’ ‘Selma,’ ‘If Beale Street Could Talk,’ and ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.’ He was also nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his role in ‘Zola’ and got an Academy Award nomination for portraying Bayard Rustin in ‘Rustin.’ Got something to add?
