Crunchyroll Quietly Pulls Two Popular Anime From Streaming
Crunchyroll has quietly removed several notable anime titles from its platform, leaving fans surprised and frustrated.
Death Parade was officially taken down today without any warning. This follows Claymore, which was removed yesterday. Just a few hours ago, Parasyte: The Maxim was also pulled from streaming.
Fans are upset because there was no notice before these removals. Many say Crunchyroll should give a “leaving soon” warning like Netflix does, so viewers have time to finish watching.
Interestingly, all the removed titles share one thing in common: they were produced by Madhouse. Some speculate that there may be issues with the studio that are preventing Crunchyroll from renewing the streaming licenses.
Both Death Parade and Parasyte: The Maxim received strong praise from critics and fans. Death Parade, which explores human morality through a unique game-of-death concept, was lauded for its striking visuals and thought-provoking story.
Parasyte: The Maxim, meanwhile, was praised for its intense action and emotional depth as it explored the relationship between humans and alien parasites. Claymore also had a solid following, known for its dark fantasy setting and strong female characters.
The sudden removals mean that, for now, fans in most countries have no legal way to watch these series online. The lack of access has sparked a lot of disappointment, with social media full of fans asking why Crunchyroll would quietly remove such popular shows.
