Robert Irwin and professional partner Witney Carson have been named the winners of Dancing with the Stars Season 34. The live finale aired Tuesday, November 25, and drew an astonishing 72 million votes from viewers.

The wildlife conservationist, best known as the son of the late Steve Irwin, impressed both judges and audiences, earning the highest combined scores of the night. Irwin and Carson finished with 89 out of 90 possible points. They beat out Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, who scored a perfect 90 but placed second, as well as Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa, and Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten.

For the first time in the show’s history, the finalists performed three entirely new dances during the finale. The evening included a judges’ choice routine, an instant dance challenge, and freestyle performances, giving the couples a chance to showcase a wide range of skills.

All the Season 34 couples returned to the ballroom for group numbers set to Tyler, The Creator’s Sugar on My Tongue, Lady Gaga’s Applause, and Alexander Jean’s I Don’t Dance. The show also opened with a lively performance to Never Can Say Goodbye by The Communards, choreographed by Joey Pizzi.

Ahead of the finale, Carson shared on TikTok that Irwin had been managing an injury. “Robert’s ribs have been killing him, and more will be revealed on Tuesday, and you guys can get a better idea of what we’ve been dealing with all week,” she said. Despite the setback, the pair delivered a strong and memorable performance that ultimately earned them the Mirrorball Trophy.

Season 34 proved to be highly competitive, and Irwin’s win highlights his hard work, determination, and the strong partnership he built with Carson throughout the season.
