The second season of Dandadan has just wrapped up, and right after the finale, the official website and social media accounts confirmed that a third season is already on the way.

While the announcement didn’t include a release date, it was enough to get fans excited about what’s coming next.

Dandadan is a manga by Yukinobu Tatsu that started in 2021 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app. As of mid-2025, the series has reached 20 volumes. The story mixes ghosts, aliens, and teenage energy as two high schoolers with unusual powers battle all kinds of strange threats with help from their allies.

The anime adaptation is produced by Science Saru. The first season ran in late 2024 with 12 episodes, followed by the second season this summer. The show is directed by Fuga Yamashiro, with scripts written by Hiroshi Seko.

Naoyuki Onda handles character design, Yoshimichi Kameda works on the monster and alien designs, and the music is by Kensuke Ushio. For season two, Abel Góngora joined as co-director.

Both seasons featured popular music artists for the theme songs. Creepy Nuts and Zutomayo provided the opening and ending themes for season one, while season two featured songs by Aina the End and WurtS.

Fans around the world have been able to watch the series thanks to a wide spread of streaming partners. Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, and Animation Digital Network handle most regions, while Muse Communication covers Asia-Pacific. GKIDS also holds rights for theatrical and home releases in North America.

The anime has also had special theater runs. Before the first season aired, the first three episodes were shown as a compilation movie titled First Encounter. The same happened for season two with Evil Eye. The English dub even premiered early at Anime NYC before eventually airing on Toonami in the summer of 2025.

With two seasons released in less than a year, many believe the next chapter will take longer to arrive. Science Saru usually only produces one or two projects per year, and the studio already has a Ghost in the Shell anime planned. Because of that, season three of Dandadan might not show up until 2027.

Fans think the longer wait will be worth it. The upcoming story is expected to adapt one of the manga’s most popular and longest arcs. As one fan said, “They definitely need the time to cook, next season will cover Dandadan’s best and longest arc yet.”

Giving the production team more time is the right move. The first two seasons came out quickly, but this next arc sounds big and deserves extra care. If it means better pacing and animation, waiting will pay off. What about you? Are you ready to wait for Dandadan season three, or do you wish it was coming sooner?
