Fans of the Knives Out series have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. This is the third film in the franchise created by Rian Johnson, and it promises a fresh story, a new cast, and the return of the beloved detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig.

Netflix has already released a full trailer, and now they have shared a new image that gives a glimpse of what’s coming.

The new picture shows Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor sitting in a car, both looking a bit worn out. You can almost see the wheels turning in Benoit Blanc’s mind as he tries to solve the case. Josh O’Connor plays Rev.

Jud Duplenticy, and from the looks of it, he might be helping Blanc with the mystery. But in the Knives Out world, anyone can be the suspect, so nothing is certain yet. The movie will officially open the 69th BFI London Film Festival, adding to the excitement.

Wake Up Dead Man follows Benoit Blanc as he investigates a murder with a long list of suspects. The details about the plot are being kept secret, but the trailer gives some clues. The story takes place mostly in a church, which is called the “holy grail” for a man who loves reason. The trailer shows many characters who could be involved, but the full mystery will only be revealed when the movie comes out.

Rian Johnson talked to Collider about the new movie and the future of the series. He said, “One of the things I love about the mystery genre is that it holds the whodunit. Like sci-fi, it encompasses so many other types of genres. ‘Wake Up Dead Man,’ this next movie, is so different than ‘Glass Onion.’ It’s like night and day. And so, as long as we keep doing that, it’s exciting.”

The cast of Wake Up Dead Man includes some big names alongside Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor. Glenn Close plays Martha, Josh Brolin is Jefferson, another priest, Mila Kunis stars as Geraldine, and Jeremy Renner takes on the role of Dr. Nat Sharp. Other actors in the film are Kerry Washington as Vera Draven, Andrew Scott as Lee Ross, Cailee Spaeny as Simone, Daryl McCormack as Cy, and Thomas Haden Church as Samson.

The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on December 12, 2025.
