David Corenswet says Krypto is “The Worst Dog in the World With Superpowers”

Actor David Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent/Superman, recently shared new details about Krypto, Superman’s famous dog. And let’s just say—this version of Krypto is not your average good boy.
Corenswet explained that in the movie, Krypto’s appearance is “sort of a foster situation.”
“Superman is taking care of this dog… but Krypto is like the worst dog in the world with superpowers, so he’s always destroying the Fortress and hunting wildlife,” he said.
Krypto might be cute, but he’s also causing chaos with his powers—tearing up the Fortress of Solitude and chasing animals. Sounds like Superman has his hands full!
The idea for this version of Krypto actually came from director James Gunn’s own real-life dog, Ozu. Gunn once shared that Ozu was rescued from a very difficult hoarding situation. At first, Ozu didn’t know how to be a dog, which made Gunn wonder:
“How difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?” he posted on social media.
That thought inspired Gunn to add Krypto to the Superman story—and the pup ended up becoming a big part of it.
While fans are excited to see Krypto in action, the movie also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, alongside Corenswet’s new take on the Man of Steel.
Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025—and it looks like Krypto might just steal the show (and probably break a few things along the way).
