While Legendary hasn’t made an official comment, this role marks a big step for Dastmalchian, who has been steadily building his career for nearly 20 years. He recently gained attention for his role in the horror film Late Night with the Devil.

Street Fighter started as a fighting game series back in 1987. It’s famous for its one-on-one battles between martial artists from all over the world, organized by M. Bison through a global fighting tournament. With over 55 million games sold worldwide, it’s one of the biggest and most popular franchises ever.

Dastmalchian’s recent work includes starring alongside Alexander Skarsgård in Apple’s sci-fi comedy Murderbot and his role in Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, which won the People’s Choice Award at TIFF. He’s also known for playing villains and will appear in Dexter: Resurrection and Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 as the bad guy Mr. 3.

He’s currently filming a psychological thriller called Kodak SuperXX with Kelly Marie Tran and has other projects like Bryan Fuller’s Dust Bunny coming up. His agents are Atlas Artists and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

Other casting highlights include Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, and Jason Momoa confirmed as Blanka. Noah Centineo will play Ken, Roman Reigns, the WWE star, takes on Akuma, and Andrew Koji from Warrior will be the lead as Ryu. Musician Orville Peck is joining as Vega.

Director Kitao Sakurai is known for his work on Bad Trip and collaborations with Eric Andre. His style suggests the movie might be wild and unpredictable, especially with the likes of 50 Cent also involved. This mix of actors from wrestling, music, comedy, and film is making the cast stand out.

No one knows yet how closely the movie will follow the games, but fans are excited to see these iconic characters come to life. With such a unique cast and crew, this Street Fighter movie promises to be something different from your typical action film. The film’s official release is planned for 2026, and anticipation is already building.
