David Dastmalchian Lands Guest Role in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

I’ve got some fresh news for you about the upcoming series ‘Dexter: Resurrection’. Showtime just added David Dastmalchian to the cast, and he’s stepping in as a guest star named Gareth. If you’re wondering who this guy is, think back to his creepy vibes in ‘The Dark Knight’ or his part in ‘Oppenheimer’—yeah, that’s him.
The show’s bringing back Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, the serial killer we can’t stop watching. Filming kicked off in New York back in January 2025, and we’re looking at a summer premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime. Clyde Phillips, a familiar name from the original ‘Dexter’ days, is running the show and producing it too, alongside Hall and a few others like Scott Reynolds and Tony Hernandez.
Now, the cast is stacked. You’ve got returning faces like David Zayas playing Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Harry Morgan. Then there’s new blood—Uma Thurman as Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, and Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, just to name a few. Other guest stars popping in include Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, and Eric Stonestreet. We don’t know much about Gareth yet, but with Dastmalchian in the role, I’m betting it’ll be memorable.
Production’s a big deal here. Marcos Siega is directing six episodes, while Monica Raymund handles four. Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios are behind it, and Paramount Global Content Distribution is getting it out to us. The series follows up on ‘Dexter: New Blood’ from 2021, not to be mixed up with the prequel ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ that dropped in 2024.
Dastmalchian’s been busy lately. He’s got ‘Murderbot’ coming to Apple TV+ in May and ‘Life of Chuck’ hitting screens in June. The guy’s everywhere—‘The Suicide Squad’, ‘Dune’, ‘Late Night with the Devil’. Showtime dropped this casting news, and it’s got me curious about how Gareth fits into Dexter’s world. Summer can’t come fast enough.
