David Harbour Reflects on Life, Love, and Controversy Amid Millie Bobby Brown and Lily Allen Rumors
David Harbour recently spoke candidly about the challenges, mistakes, and lessons he’s faced over his 50 years. In an interview with Esquire Spain published Saturday, the “Stranger Things” star reflected on both his personal life and career, addressing his divorce from singer Lily Allen and rumors involving co-star Millie Bobby Brown.
When asked if he would change anything about his life, Harbour said it’s a difficult question. “I would change either everything or nothing,” he explained.
“You either accept your path completely and realize that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that.” He added, “It’s kind of like a house of cards, the minute you try to change one thing you kind of have to change it all.”
Harbour also discussed how his personal experiences shape his work as an actor. “If you’ve never been through anything, what do you really have to offer?” he said. “If I were to change anything, I’d change everything, and just make my life happy and silly and like, whatever, and then I wouldn’t be an artist anymore. And that would suck.” He went on to say that he wants to continue creating “stories that are complex and rich” that evoke strong emotions in audiences.
These remarks come after Allen publicly discussed their marriage, saying Harbour broke some of their agreed-upon boundaries. Her latest album, “West End Girl,” reportedly addresses the end of their four-year marriage.
Allen told The Times, “There are usually agreed-upon boundaries in relationships. But whether those boundaries are adhered to or not is becoming a grey area all of a sudden. Dating apps make people disposable and that leads to the idea that if you are not happy, there’s so much more to choose from — right in your pocket.”
In addition to his divorce, Harbour is facing scrutiny over rumors of an internal complaint by Millie Bobby Brown on the set of “Stranger Things.” According to the Daily Mail, Brown allegedly submitted “pages and pages” of accusations. The report states the complaints were not se*** in nature, and the outcome of any investigation remains unknown.
Harbour emphasized that all experiences, even difficult or painful ones, contribute to personal growth and artistry. “There’s personal stuff that I want to do, and people that I want to love, and be good to and nurture, things like that,” he said.
