DC Stargirl: Starman actor promoted to next season’s series regular

Who would say it will take two whole seasons to make a character who was an inspiration to a titular hero a series regular.

Joel McHale, an actor who plays the role of Sylvester Pemberton, who was the original Starman during the golden age of Justice Society of America will surely have a huge impact on the next season of the show. McHale confirmed the promotion on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last Friday:

“I’m very happy to be a part of the show, so thank you Geoff Johns who invented it.”

McHale firstly showed up in a flashback scene of the show’s pilot episode where his character was presumably killed off along with the rest of the original JSA. Years after that, his famous staff found a new owner in Brec Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore who took his mantle and became Stargirl. At the end of the season, it was showed that Starman is alive after all.

DC Stargirl was created by the creator of the character Geoff Johns, and it stars Brec Bassinger, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Jake Austin Walker, Meg DeLacy, etc.
