DC Studios Hints at ‘Superman’ Spinoff Show with New Trademark Filing
The possibility of a new Superman spinoff show is gaining momentum, and fans have a lot to be excited about.
The recent Superman movie, directed and written by James Gunn, just hit theaters in the United States. It stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
According to a Wall Street Journal article, James Gunn is thinking about creating two new shows in the DC Universe that would spin off from the Superman story.
One show would focus on Edi Gathegi’s character, Mister Terrific, and the other would follow Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo.
What adds to the excitement is that DC has recently filed a trademark for both Mr. Terrific and Mister Miracle, covering several categories including movies. This was first spotted on X by DC Films News. While fans might already know about the Mister Miracle animated series in the works by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, the trademark for Mr. Terrific suggests the character’s show is moving closer to becoming real.
DC Comics has filed trademark applications for ‘MR. TERRIFIC’ and ‘MISTER MIRACLE’ across multiple categories:

It’s important to remember that filing a trademark doesn’t guarantee a show will happen. Sometimes companies do this to protect the name in case the project moves forward later. James Gunn hasn’t officially said that a Mr. Terrific show is confirmed yet.
Edi Gathegi spoke to Variety about his connection with DC and shared, “I have a multi-project deal with DC, though the specific details are unknown to me at this time.” He also explained, “What James is driving home is the idea that they’re never going to rush into production with scripts that aren’t ready, so even whatever they do have planned for my characters is irrelevant until the draft comes in and it’s shootable.”
Gathegi added, “So I don’t count my chickens before they hatch. I want to be involved in this universe in a major way, and whether or not that comes to fruition is just a matter of time and faith and other people’s hard work.”
While fans wait to hear more, it seems the DC Universe is quietly building on the Superman story with promising new projects on the horizon.
