BREAKING NEWS! Deadpool fans, rejoice, Ryan Reynolds, who is best known for starring as the Merc with the Mouth in Fox’s X-Men franchise, has finally announced that a third Deadpool movie is on the way! In the video posted on his official Twitter account, Reynolds officially announced that Deadpool 3 will be released on September 6, 2024!
But that’s not all! In the mentioned post, Reynolds has a special guest star — Hugh Jackman, who confirmed his return as Logan aka Wolverine! Check the video down below:
Reynolds made his debut as Deadpool in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the faithful adaptation of the character didn’t arrive until 2016’s Deadpool. The sequel was released in 2018, and after that, Disney acquired Fox, which opened the way for Deadpool to join the MCU!
It’s been three years since Disney’s acquisition of Fox, which not only brought blockbuster franchises like Avatar and Alien under Disney’s umbrella, but also Marvel characters that were out of reach for Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios, including X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool. Deadpool has had two movies under Fox, the original 2016’s movie and the 2018’s sequel. Ever since the acquisition, Kevin Feige assured fans that there will definitely be Deadpool 3, that Ryan Reynolds will continue to play the titular character, and, the most important thing of all, the movie will still be rated R.
We all know that Deadpool must be Deadpool, and he cannot work in any other way, and Kevin Feige is probably aware of that. MCU movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was PG-13, but critics agreed that it touched the roof of that rating. One more step further, and it would probably be rated R. Of course, Deadpool is on whole another level. With all the vulgarity, violence, and everything that makes the R-rated movie the R-movie, that’s the beauty of Deadpool, and fans are hoping that Disney won’t try to water that down.
We repeat! Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is set to be released on September 6, 2024!
