Amazon Prime Video revealed the official trailer for Deep Water, a mystery psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith.

The movie is starring No Time To Die and Knives Out star Ana de Armas with former Batman star Ben Affleck in this tense, mystery thriller based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith. The movie follows a husband who becomes the primary suspect when his wife’s lovers start dying, after letting his wife have affairs in order to avoid a divorce. The question is, who’s really telling the truth?

The original Patricia Highsmith’s novel was first released in 1957, and this movie will be the third time the novel is getting an adaptation. The novel was first adapted in 1981 in the film Eaux profondes directed by Michel Deville. The movie relocated the setting to France, and it starred Jean-Louis Trintignant and Isabelle Huppert. In 1983, the novel was adapted a second time into the 2-part television film Tiefe Wasser, which relocated the setting to Germany. It starred Peter Bongartz and Constanze Engelbrecht.

The upcoming movie is set to be a first faithful adaptation, with Ana de Armas playing Melinda Van Allen, and Ben Affleck playing her husband Vic Van Allen.

Written by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson, and directed by Adrian Lyne, Deep Water is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on March 18, 2022.
