Demi Moore recently shared her memories of working with Tom Cruise on A Few Good Men, reflecting on how her pregnancy made the set a little awkward.

Speaking at a Q&A with Jia Tolentino at the New Yorker Festival on October 25, Moore, 62, revealed that she was nearly eight months pregnant with her second child, Scout Willis, when she began rehearsals with Cruise and director Rob Reiner.

“I think Tom was quite embarrassed,” Moore said. “I actually felt okay about it. I was moving around, though, right? But I could tell he felt that it was a bit awkward.”

Moore explained that at the time, many actors in Hollywood weren’t balancing parenthood with their careers, which may have contributed to Cruise’s discomfort. “It’s one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn’t make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, ‘Why not? Why can’t you have both?’” she added.

The actress also shared how she pushed herself to prove that it was possible to manage both motherhood and a demanding acting career. “I look back at that time now, and I go, ‘What the f**** was I thinking?’ And what was I even trying to prove? But it wasn’t as supported as it is today,” she said.

Moore described the pressure of breastfeeding, blocking scenes, and rehearsing simultaneously, along with trying to get back in shape before giving birth.

She noted that younger actresses today are more supported and don’t face the same challenges. “The next generation won’t have to strive for as much,” Moore said.

It’s clear that Moore’s experience on A Few Good Men was about more than just acting, it highlighted the pressures faced by working mothers in Hollywood at the time. What do you think about the challenges she described? Share your thoughts in the comments.
