Stuart and Bob are assigned to him as his traveling companions. As soon as they arrive in New York, they discover a secret villain TV channel that broadcasts an announcement about the Villain Con in Orlando, which they watch for a while. The minions make their way to Villain Con by taking a ride with the Nelsons, who turn out to be villains as well. 

Scarlet Overkill, the world’s most infamous villain at the time, is waiting for them there, and he turns out to be looking for henchmen. Bob ends up winning the contest to become Scarlet’s henchman by accident.

Scarlet and her minions follow Kevin to Scarlet’s castle, where Kevin summons his fellow minions to join him. She assigns the minions the mission of stealing the royal crown from the reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth of Britain. 

The minions are successful in stealing the crown thanks to the help of Scarlet’s husband Herb’s gadgets, but they are apprehended and forced to flee, where they remain until Bob accidentally releases the sword in the stone from the legends of Excalibur. As a result, Bob has been crowned king. 

Because Scarlet is enraged by this, she goes to see her minion friends. Scarlet is ecstatic to receive the crown and the throne of kingship. Scarlet, on the other hand, condemns them to a torture chamber. Somehow, the minions are unaffected by the torture equipment and manage to sneak back into Scarlet’s coronation ceremony to express their gratitude. 

However, once again, they fail to deliver, as they instead crash an ancient chandelier into Scarlet’s head. Scarlet dispatches the rest of the villains from Villain Con to track down the minions. Stuart and Bob have been apprehended.

Kevin manages to elude capture and comes across Herb’s secret weapon, which transforms him into a massive minion. Stuart and Bob are saved while he is engaged in combat with Scarlet, and the rest of the minions arrive. Kevin swallows Scarlet’s rocket but prevents her escape, blowing her up and returning Kevin to his size. Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are rewarded by the Queen. 

But Scarlet is still alive and returns to steal the crown, only to be stopped by young Gru, who takes the crown and gains the minions as his servants.

Gru and Lucy are sacked from the Anti-Villain League by Valerie Da Vinci, and they find themselves out of work. While Agnes is attempting to sell items to get money, Gru learns that he has a twin sibling. 

He travels to Dru’s location, only to discover that Dru is a more successful and wealthy supervillain than he had previously thought. Gru agrees to Dru’s request to partner up with him for one more theft, and Dru is pleased with the result. 

They have a plan to take the greatest diamond in the world from Bratt, but Lucy isn’t aware of it since the Minions have gotten themselves into trouble.
