The recently released trailer gives a first look at Dev Patel as Darcy Davenport and Rosy McEwen as his wife, Daphne. The couple has left London behind to live in the countryside, hoping to find creative inspiration and a fresh start. “When the couple set about exploring their new environs, recording instruments in tow, Darcy stumbles upon a ‘faerie circle’ that emits a strange, unidentifiable frequency,” the official synopsis states.
This discovery is soon followed by the arrival of an otherworldly child, played by Jade Croot, who quickly becomes part of their lives. The child’s presence tests the couple’s trust and reveals hidden tensions, threatening both their mental and spiritual well-being.
Rabbit Trap was shot in 2023, with filming taking place in North Yorkshire. The film features music by Lucrecia Dalt, with sound design by Graham Reznick and Brent Kiser, adding to the eerie atmosphere. Dev Patel also serves as an executive producer on the project alongside Benjamin Kramer, Kyle Stroud, Tom Ogden, Stephen Kelliher, and Sophie Green.
The film made its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in the Midnight section on January 24, 2025. Magnolia Pictures will release it in the United States on September 12, 2025.
