Did Pedro Pascal Just Drop a Major Hint About the ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Sequel?

Disney recently announced a new Marvel movie is planned for release on December 15, 2028. This would be Marvel’s fourth film that year, following three others already scheduled for February, May, and November.
But it’s worth noting that Disney often holds dates as placeholders, shifting them when needed. For example, Marvel’s Blade was pushed back after Disney grabbed a date for Predator: Badlands.
Fans are already speculating about the mystery 2028 movie. Many think it could be the sequel to Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set to hit theaters in July 2026. Variety’s report hinted that the follow-up might be underway. Adding fuel to the rumors, actor Pedro Pascal recently liked a social media post about a Fantastic Four sequel.
Still, the official report doesn’t confirm the 2028 movie is definitely the Fantastic Four sequel. That date could also be reserved for Blade or Black Panther 3. The studio probably wants to wait and see how the first Fantastic Four film does in theaters and with critics before deciding on a sequel.
It’s important to remember that Marvel’s recent hits are mostly Deadpool & Wolverine and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Other movies haven’t performed as well financially.
Pascal’s social media like might simply be him showing support for the Marvel fan community. Actors often engage with fan rumors or casting ideas even if those projects never get made.
The sequel is likely in the early stages of development. For example, Marvel confirmed the Nova TV series was in development but later put it on hold when they changed their plans.
Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman, with a script by Josh Friedman and Eric Pearson. The main cast includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. Other notable actors are John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson. The story is set in a 1960s-style world where the team faces Galactus, a powerful planet-eating villain.
This film will kick off Marvel’s Phase Six and is scheduled to release in the U.S. on July 25, 2025.
