Disney+ is taking a big step into user-generated content with the launch of a new Creators Collection. The move marks the first time the streaming service has added content made by independent creators.

The new collection was created in partnership with Pocket.Watch, a digital-first studio that focuses on building franchises for the next generation of families, known as Generation Alpha.

Pocket.Watch describes its approach as “a fresh, industry-disrupting approach to forging franchises for Generation Alpha.”

The Creators Collection features a variety of Lilo & Stitch-themed content, including videos exploring the origins of Stitch, unboxing Funko Pops, comparing the original series with the live-action adaptation, and even baking tutorials.

Titles include Why Experiment 626 Became Stitch, How Stitch Got His Voice, and How To Bake A Stitch Cake, among others. According to WhatsonDisneyPlus, these videos offer fans a mix of nostalgia, fun, and behind-the-scenes insights.

Currently, the Creators Collection is only available to viewers in the United States. Disney had previously mentioned that user-generated content would eventually appear on its new ESPN app, and now it seems the plan is expanding to Disney+ as well.

This development could signal a shift in the way Disney+ approaches streaming, adding more interactive and personalized experiences for viewers. By including creator-driven content, the platform is testing new ways to engage audiences beyond traditional studio productions.

Adding user-generated content to Disney+ could be a smart way to attract younger viewers and create a more interactive experience. It will be interesting to see if Disney expands this feature globally and how fans respond. Do you think user-generated content belongs on Disney+? Share your thoughts in the comments.
