Disney is reportedly working on a new movie titled Aurora, which will offer a fresh take on the classic Sleeping Beauty story.

According to film insider Daniel Richtman, the upcoming project will reimagine the beloved fairy tale in a completely new setting, Mexico.

Although Disney has not officially confirmed the film, Richtman’s reports often turn out to be accurate, especially when it comes to early details about projects still in development.

The original Sleeping Beauty was released in 1959 and has long been one of Disney’s most famous animated films. It told the story of Princess Aurora, who falls into a deep sleep after being cursed, only to be awakened by true love’s kiss.

The story was later revisited in Disney’s Maleficent films starring Angelina Jolie, which gave audiences a different perspective by focusing on the villain.

If Aurora becomes a reality, it could mark another move by Disney to retell its classic stories in new ways, often highlighting diverse cultures and new creative directions. Setting the story in Mexico could bring a unique cultural touch and visual style that sets it apart from earlier versions of the tale.
