Doctor Doom’s MCU Plan Allegedly Revealed—A Long-Awaited Twist for Comic Fans
The past few weeks have been huge for MCU fans. The release of “Deadpool & Wolverine” has been teased by Feige as the beginning of the “mutant era” in the MCU. Additionally, Marvel Studios’ SDCC panel revealed the title for “Avengers 5” and introduced Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Given all the recent teasers, scoops, and leaks, we have a strong sense of what “Secret Wars” and the surrounding storylines will entail.
MyTimeToShineHello shared an intriguing scoop/theory on social media that explains why Robert Downey Jr. used the phrase “same task, different mask” when he revealed himself as Doctor Doom.
Doom isn’t truly evil; he believes he’s saving the Multiverse from incursions. According to his twisted logic, the only way for the Multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place (Battleworld) under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.
In the comics, during the “Time Runs Out” event, Earth faces the threat of Incursions, where Earth-616 is on a collision course with alternate realities due to the Beyonders’ attempts to destroy the multiverse. With the Illuminati, who are now forbidden from existing, resorting to unethical measures, they devise plans to eliminate the colliding worlds, including using the Infinity Gauntlet and other destructive weapons created by their factions.
Ultimately, Doctor Doom intervenes by stealing the Beyonders’ power, merging several realities into a new world called Battleworld. He then rules Battleworld as God-Emperor Doom, leading directly into the “Secret Wars” storyline.
Many fans are thrilled about this possibility, calling the proposed character arc both accurate and something they’ve been anticipating.
