Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Writer Reveals Alternate Ending
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had the potential to be one of the biggest Marvel movies ever made, but it didn’t deliver as much as the fans expected. Some fans liked it more, some liked it less, but still, there is a lot of stuff that might’ve been a part of this movie, but didn’t make the final cut, including the alternate ending.
Michael Waldron, who previously worked on the Disney+ series Loki, also served as the sole writer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Even though he already revealed a lot of interesting stuff about the movie, he never talked about the alternate ending, until now. In the audio commentary of the movie’s digital release, Waldron revealed an alternate twisted-ending.
“Strange gets trapped in that [incursion] universe … and then [Sinister Strange] turns around, and the third eye opens.” — Michael Waldron (via ComicBook.com)
Doctor Strange’s third eye was also a light motive of the movie’s ending, as well as its post-credit scene in which Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular character met Charlize Theron’s Clea.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness grossed $947 million worldwide, which is a solid result, but it’s interesting that it didn’t manage to reach a billion-dollar mark. Still, it is currently the second highest-grossing movie of the year, behind Top Gun: Maverick.
Directed by Sam Raimi, and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now streaming on Disney+.
