Doechii is embracing a new chapter of personal expression, and she’s doing it with a fresh digital space. The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jaylah Hickmon, recently launched a secondary Instagram account under the handle @gutsgritsglamour.

In one of her early posts, the artist explained her desire for a dedicated platform where she could express Jaylah the human apart from her high-profile persona as Doechii the artist.

One of the most notable details of this new account is the updated bio, which now includes the word lesbian alongside interests like luxury travel, film, and wellness. This subtle change has already sparked a wave of excitement and support from her fanbase online.

While she has not released a formal statement regarding the specific label, the inclusion marks a shift from her previous public comments regarding her identity. Back in October 2024, the “Anxiety” singer spoke candidly with Gay Times about her journey with her sexuality.

At that time, she identified as bisexual and shared that she was in a happy relationship with a woman. During that interview, she reflected on her upbringing in the South, noting that she had always known she loved women and had been aware of those feelings from a very young age.

This personal milestone comes just as Doechii reaches the highest heights of her musical career. She recently took home a Grammy Award for Best Music Video for her hit song “Anxiety,” a visual that was widely praised for its raw and vulnerable depiction of mental health.

The win solidified her status as a powerhouse in the industry, proving that her artistic vision is just as strong as her lyrical ability. Beyond her recent Grammy success, Doechii is keeping her schedule packed with major performances and brand partnerships.

She recently starred in a high-energy Levi’s commercial that aired during Super Bowl LX, appearing alongside DJ Questlove. Fans can also catch her live very soon, as she is slated to perform at several major international festivals, including Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina, and Brazil in March.

In addition to her music, the rapper has been dropping hints about potential film projects and high-profile collaborations. She recently teased a new track titled Movie Star. with R&B singer Brent Faiyaz, which is rumored to appear on his upcoming album.

Having made her acting debut in the critically acclaimed film Earth Mama in 2023, many industry insiders believe she is looking to take on more serious acting roles in the near future.

Do you think Doechii’s decision to create a separate “human” account is a healthy way for modern artists to maintain their privacy while still staying connected with their fans? Share your thoughts in the comments.
