Don McLean recently took to social media to celebrate a major milestone in his personal life, marking over a decade of partnership with his girlfriend, Paris Dylan. The 80-year-old “American Pie” singer shared a touching tribute on Instagram on February 4, featuring a photo of the couple from a 2024 White House state dinner.

In his post, McLean expressed his deep affection, calling the 31-year-old Dylan the love of [his] life after ten years together. Dylan, who first rose to public attention as a contestant on the show Catfish, echoed the sentiment in the comments, calling McLean the love of her life as well.

The couple has long been a subject of public fascination due to their nearly fifty-year age gap, but they have consistently shared their happiness with fans through travel photos and concert snapshots. Just a few days after the anniversary post, McLean shared another image of the pair alongside his longtime friend, actor Ed Begley Jr., following a performance in Beverly Hills.

The pair was first spotted together in 2018 during one of McLean’s international tours, though they didn’t officially confirm their romance until Dylan posted a birthday tribute later that year.

Since then, they have traveled the world together, with McLean previously stating that he experienced love at first sight when they met. He often credits their lasting bond to a simple mutual appreciation, noting that they just like each other a lot and share plenty of laughs.

As of February, McLean is showing no signs of slowing down despite his recent milestone birthday. He is currently headlining his “Starry Starry Night Tour,” which is set to travel across the United States through much of the year.

Recent performances, including a highly praised set at the Saban Theatre, have featured his signature hits and personal stories from a career spanning over half a century. Fans can look forward to seeing the legend in Florida this March, with stops scheduled in Immokalee, Melbourne, and Clearwater.

In addition to his live performances, McLean’s latest studio album, American Boys, continues to be a focal point of his setlists. The record features a collaboration with the vocal group Home Free and pays homage to the early pioneers of rock and roll, proving that his creative resurgence is still in full swing.

Whether he is celebrating a decade of love with Paris Dylan or singing to sold-out crowds, the legendary songwriter remains one of the most enduring figures in American music history.

Do you believe that the enduring popularity of a song like “American Pie” over five decades proves that timeless songwriting is more powerful than any modern music trend? Share your thoughts in the comments.
