‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ Drops Explosive New Trailer Confirming October Premiere

Few franchises carry the kind of nostalgic weight that ‘Dragon Ball‘ does, and few storylines within it hold as much significance as the introduction of Beerus, the God of Destruction. That arc reshaped the entire trajectory of the series when it first aired, elevating the stakes of the franchise beyond anything fans had seen before.

Now, more than a decade later, that pivotal story is getting a full makeover, and the wait for concrete details has finally paid off. Toei Animation and Shueisha have spent the better part of this year teasing the project, slowly building anticipation with vague “Fall 2026” release windows and short teaser clips.

That anticipation reached a new peak this week with the release of a full trailer confirming exactly when fans can expect the series to arrive. ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ will officially premiere on October 11, with the newly unveiled “Super Surge” trailer offering an extended look at the reworked battles between Goku and Beerus alongside a glimpse of the series’ enhanced visuals.

The trailer also teased the return of Frieza, hinting that the villain’s resurrection will play a larger role in this new version of the story than some fans might expect. Alongside the footage, Toei confirmed the show’s theme songs, with “ONOGAMI” by MEGATERA・ZERO serving as the opening and “Kan Peki No Peki” by VK Blanka rounding out the ending.

Unlike a simple rerelease, ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ is being billed as a full “enhanced edition” of the franchise’s Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F arcs. According to the official announcement, the project involves extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, and newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects.

Producer Akio Iyoku has described the work as having started years ago, framing it as a full reconstruction of the story rather than a simple visual touch-up. The goal, according to the announcement, is to deliver greater power and immersion across every scene, particularly the fight sequences that made the original arc so memorable in the first place.

That reconstruction also appears to bring the anime closer in line with the manga written by Akira Toriyama and Toyotaro, which told this portion of the story with some notable differences from the original televised version. Fans who felt the anime’s pacing or tone diverged too far from the source material may find this new version scratching that particular itch.

‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ will begin airing in Japan on the Fuji TV network and its affiliates starting October 11 at 11:15 p.m. local time. An international streaming release has also been confirmed, though the specific platform for that global rollout has not yet been announced.

Ahead of its television premiere, the first episode will get an early screening at the ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ Special Panel during New York Comic Con on October 8. That panel will reportedly include English dub voice actors for both Beerus and Whis, giving Western fans an early chance to experience the new version before it hits screens back in Japan.

This new series is also being positioned as a lead-in to another highly anticipated project, ‘Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol,’ which will adapt the Moro Arc from later in the manga’s run. While no release date has been set for that follow-up yet, its connection to ‘Beerus’ suggests Toei is building toward a larger, more ambitious continuation of the ‘Dragon Ball Super’ story.

For a franchise that has spent years balancing nostalgia with new material, revisiting one of its most beloved arcs with modern animation and a tighter narrative feels like a calculated risk. Whether longtime fans embrace the changes or hold tightly to the original version will likely become clear the moment the first episode airs.
