‘Dune: Part Three’ Tickets Go on Sale This Week as ‘The Odyssey’ Frenzy Winds Down
Few films on the 2026 calendar carry as much anticipation as ‘Dune: Part Three’, the final chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed sci-fi trilogy. Based on Frank Herbert’s novel ‘Dune Messiah’, the film jumps 17 years past the events of ‘Dune: Part Two’ and follows Emperor Paul Atreides as he confronts the consequences of absolute power, escalating rebellion and conspirators determined to overthrow him.
The film is set to open in North America on December 18, with international audiences getting their first look starting December 16. It will share that crowded holiday frame with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, setting up one of the most competitive box office stretches of the year.
After months of limited ticket drops, the floodgates are about to open. According to box office analyst Luiz Fernando, ‘Dune: Part Three’ will launch general pre-sales worldwide on Tuesday, October 20, covering all formats and showtimes, 55 days ahead of the global rollout’s kickoff on December 15.
That puts the film on a path similar to Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which also staggered its ticketing across multiple waves. For fans who missed out on the earlier rounds, this is the first chance to grab standard screenings without being part of a special access group.
#Dune nation, rejoice! Following #TheOdyssey footsteps, after 2 rounds of pre-sales for previews & select IMAX + PLF screenings, #DenisVilleneuve’s epic conclusion #DunePartThree will kick off general pre-sales on OCT 20 TUE, 55 days ahead of its DEC 15 Global #BoxOffice rollout’s kickoff. Tickets will go on sale worldwide TOMORROW, for all formats and time slots.

The earlier ticket rounds were not exactly smooth. Warner Bros. released an initial batch of opening-weekend IMAX 70mm tickets in July of last year, followed by another round this April.

In August, a third wave added other premium large-format screens such as Dolby, along with sneak peek fan screenings. Much like ‘The Odyssey’, that release turned chaotic, with crashing websites, long waits, and sold-out shows frustrating fans.
Those earlier drops were mostly aimed at “Dune Insiders,” fans who signed up on the official website. Those screenings were scheduled for December 14 in IMAX 70mm, December 15 in other IMAX theaters, and December 17 in other premium formats.
The pre-sale buzz has been building internationally as well. Reports surfaced last week that tickets were expected to go on sale in the UK, a market that ranked as the biggest overseas territory for ‘Dune: Part Two’.

There’s a reason fans are fighting for premium seats. The film was shot primarily on 65mm film stock, with sequences captured in 15/70mm IMAX film and desert scenes filmed in IMAX Digital.
According to IMAX, the movie features 71 minutes presented in the format’s exclusive 1.90:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio. Villeneuve has described this chapter as more action-packed and tense than his other films, with a tone that leans more toward a thriller.
Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul, now married to Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan while maintaining his relationship with Zendaya’s Chani. The ensemble also includes Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson and Javier Bardem, along with newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke.

Among the forces plotting against Paul is the Bene Tleilax, a secretive sect of genetic manipulators. Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with Brian K. Vaughan, while Hans Zimmer returns to compose the score.
The film marks Chalamet and Villeneuve’s final journey into this universe, giving the release an added sense of occasion. Unlike the first 2 films, which split one novel into 2 parts, this entry functions more like a true sequel. With general tickets arriving this week and premium screenings already in high demand, the race for opening weekend seats is officially on.
