‘Dune: Prophecy’ Season 2 Gets Key Production Update and New Cast Announcements
HBO has officially started production on season two of Dune: Prophecy. The news comes with the announcement of some exciting new cast members joining the show. According to HBO, Indira Varma, Tom Hollander, and Ashley Walters will appear in the series, although their roles have not yet been revealed.
The second season will once again be an eight-episode story, led by showrunner Alison Schapker. Filming is taking place in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain. HBO even shared a behind-the-scenes video to celebrate the start of production.
Varma is known for Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hollander for The White Lotus and the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and Walters for Bullet Boy and Adolescence. While it’s unclear who they will be playing, their addition adds new energy to the show.
Returning cast members from season one include Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
Jessica Barden and Emma Canning are also back, which suggests the series will continue exploring flashbacks involving the young Harkonnen sisters, central figures in this prequel story.
Since the show takes place 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides and spans multiple generations, it’s difficult to guess the roles of the new cast members. Fans will likely learn more as production continues.
As for a release date, it’s still too early to say. The first season faced delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which interrupted production that had begun in November 2022. That season eventually premiered in November 2024. While it’s possible season two could arrive within a year if there are no further delays, HBO has not confirmed any official timeline.
