Dungeons Dragons Honor Among Thieves 2023

For decades, Dungeons & Dragons has captured the imagination of fantasy lovers worldwide with its intricate world-building, complex characters, and thrilling adventures. From tabletop games to books, comics, and video games, the franchise has spawned a vast and diverse universe that has inspired countless adaptations, including movies.

While the Dungeons and Dragons film franchise has had a rocky history, with both critical and commercial failures, it remains a beloved and essential part of the series’ lore. In this article, we’ll explore the Dungeons and Dragons movies in order, including the latest installment, Honor Among Thieves, to help you navigate the franchise’s cinematic universe.

How many Dungeons & Dragons movies are there?

There are three movies currently in the Dungeons and Dragons series, with the fourth movie set to be released on March 31st. The series started with the release of Dungeons & Dragons back in 2000, followed by two more sequels in 2005 and 2012, respectively. The fourth movie, titled “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, is set to reboot the whole universe.

Are Dungeons & Dragons movies connected? Do you need to watch them in a specific order?

Dungeons & Dragons movies are not directly connected to each other and do not need to be watched in a specific order. The first Dungeons & Dragons movie, released in 2000, was a standalone film that took place in its own universe with its own set of characters and plot.

It was followed by a direct-to-video sequel, Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God, in 2005, which also had its own separate storyline set 100 years after the first movie, with only one actor, Bruce Payne, returning to reprise his role. The same goes for the third movie as well. The fourth movie, Honor Among Thieves, has no connections to the previous trilogy whatsoever since it’s supposed to reboot the universe as a whole.

What is the best way to watch Dungeons & Dragons movies?

You can watch Dungeons & Dragons movies in any order since the movies are considered to be “standalone†sequels rather than direct continuations of the previous movies. The general idea is present. Still, most characters do not return, and the stories are disconnected. The same goes for Honor Among Thieves, the fourth movie in the series, which is completely standalone in terms of storyline and unconnected to the original trilogy. In any case, plenty of film franchises work this way, and we always recommend that you stick to the release date order since it’s the best way to enjoy most franchises.
