EA Sports Confirms FC and Madden NFL for Switch 2, Aiming for Feature Parity

EA Sports has announced that EA Sports FC and Madden NFL are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. While fans are eager to know if these games will match the versions on PlayStation and Xbox, EA has stated that they will offer similar features “as much as the hardware allows.”
In a statement to Eurogamer, EA Sports said:
“We’re excited to bring two of our most beloved franchises – EA SPORTS FC and Madden NFL – to Nintendo’s Switch 2, giving fans even more ways to play the sports they love, anytime and anywhere.”
The company confirmed that these versions are being developed specifically for the Switch 2 but did not provide details on whether they will be full-featured like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions or something closer to previous “Legacy Editions” seen on the original Nintendo Switch.
EA Sports was asked whether the Switch 2 versions would have the same features and visuals as the latest console versions. The response was:
“We’ll share more details on the Madden NFL and FC experiences for Switch 2 at a later date, but our goal is always to deliver a consistent player experience across platforms as much as the hardware allows.”
The company did not confirm if the Switch 2 games would be exactly the same as those on PlayStation and Xbox. There was also no confirmation about crossplay or whether other EA Sports titles might come to the new console.
In the past, EA Sports released “Legacy Edition” versions of FIFA (now EA Sports FC) on the original Switch. These versions had fewer features and only included roster updates without major gameplay improvements. However, last year’s FC 25 on the Switch was a more complete version, raising hopes that the Switch 2 versions will be closer to the full console experience.
While it’s still unclear if the Switch 2 versions will have every feature of their PlayStation and Xbox counterparts, EA Sports seems to be promising a better experience than past Legacy Editions. Fans will have to wait for more details in the coming months.
