Early ‘Superman’ Reactions Pour In — And They’re All Saying the Same Thing
A group of fans in Brazil got an early look at James Gunn’s new Superman movie, and they’re loving it. Warner Bros. screened the first 30 minutes of the film at a special event, and even though viewers weren’t supposed to talk about it yet, several reactions still made it online.
People who saw the footage are calling it a fresh and exciting take on Superman. One fan wrote, “No way I saw the first 30 minutes of Superman after feeling so hopeless the entire day. Needless to say it was DAMN BEAUTIFUL. Time absolutely flew by…”
Another person shared, “The first 30 mins of #Superman is so f*ck*ng good! A fresh new perspective to take the character. David is SO GOOD switching from Clark to Superman and the chemistry with Rachel! We’ve seen a lot and yet WE HAVEN’T SEEN A LOT.”
Someone else posted, “I GOT THE CHANCE TO WATCH THE FIRST 30 MINS OF SUPERMAN AND IT WAS AMAZING!!! @corenswet @JamesGunn HAS DONE IT, SUPER STOKED FOR THIS ONE!!!”
A different fan added, “Holy… just saw 30 min of #Superman the fly scene is unique and you can feel the speed of Superman. IMAX is a must for this movie.”
This film is the start of a brand-new DC universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. It’s the first chapter in what they’re calling “Gods and Monsters.” The movie stars David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Other cast members include Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Originally called Superman: Legacy, the film tells the story of a younger Clark Kent who wants to do the right thing, even when the world questions his intentions. From what fans have seen so far, the movie has a lot of heart and a fresh tone that’s different from past Superman versions.
Superman opens in theaters on July 11.
The reactions so far make it sound like this Superman could be something special.
