Fired X-Men ’97 Writer Beau DeMayo Bashes Newly Confirmed MCU’s X-Men Reboot Director

Beau DeMayo is a name we haven’t heard much about in recent months. Initially hailed as one of the most promising writers at Marvel Studios, thanks to the successful launch of the critically acclaimed ‘X-Men ’97,’ DeMayo was unexpectedly fired by the studio even before the first season premiered.
At first, the reason for his sudden dismissal was unclear, but DeMayo later provoked the studio into releasing a statement revealing that he was fired due to alleged sexual misconduct. The studio’s internal investigation uncovered troubling behavior, leading to their swift and severe action.
Since then, DeMayo has continued to criticize Marvel for racism and homophobia on his OnlyFans account and has even toyed with filing a lawsuit against the company.
Now he’s back with his hot takes. DeMayo recently commented on Marvel Studios’ choice of director for the upcoming X-Men reboot. Jake Schreier, who directed the recently released Thunderbolts* will be helming the reboot. DeMayo had an extremely offensive meltdown on his X profile following the news:
He criticized Marvel Studios for hiring a director he believes only got the job because he fits a certain Hollywood demographic, not because of talent. He mocked the director for previously making a film that didn’t do well at the box office, yet still being given control of the X-Men reboot.
DeMayo said he has no interest in seeing what the director and his team create, and claimed the project will lack any real exploration of the true themes behind the X-Men. He called the hiring decision “pathetic.”
Oh, look, only at @MarvelStudios with its plantation country club vibes can you direct a decent film that doesn’t break even at the box office and land this gig.

Oh to fit a certain demographic in Hollywood and just fail upwards 🙄
ZERO interest in seeing what him and… https://t.co/oUnefrEsHb
Ever since DeMayo was fired, and the reason why leaked to the public, he tried to attack the Studio with a racism card.
DeMayo explained that the accusations and issues Marvel and others have shared are meant to distract from the real reason he left. According to him, the real issue was that he stood up and spoke the truth, which upset powerful people. He said Marvel wanted him to just be a “stamp of approval” for the project because of his identity, but he refused.
The offenses Marvel and others have leaked are designed to distract you from what really offended them. That someone like me dared to speak truth to people like them. They wanted me to be the Black stamp of approval on this project, I declined. They tried to erase aspects of my personality that clashed or proved inconvenient with the misguided narratives they wanted to establish, I declined.
Schreier is not the only creative from the MCU he has attacked in recent months. Back in January, DeMayo criticized ‘What If…?’ Season 3 on social media, calling it a “yikes” experience. He felt the season lacked substance, describing it as “fanfic” with flat, obvious dialogue and bizarre story premises.
DeMayo also pointed out that this season marked the departure of AC Bradley, with Matthew Chauncey taking over as the writer and producer. He suggested that the season could have been much better with some improvements but jokingly remarked that he had more important things to do than offer detailed feedback.
(Matthew Chauncey was chosen to write ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 3 after Beau DeMayo’s dismissal.)
DeMayo also managed to sprinkle in some racism in his reaction:
Keep in mind that the creative team behind #whatif is entirely white and Marvel likes that vibe
