Few characters in the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise are as fashion-forward as Effie Trinket. Originally played by Elizabeth Banks, the flamboyant Capitol escort became famous for her extravagant wigs, bold colors, and theatrical style, making her a natural muse for red carpet dressing.

Elle Fanning plays a younger version of the character in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’. The prequel follows Joseph Zada’s young Haymitch Abernathy through the 50th Hunger Games, and it arrives in theaters on November 20.

Fanning made sure her character was front and center at the film’s UK fan screening. Attending the event at Westfield London on October 28, the actress wore a dreamy blush-pink couture look that fans instantly connected to Effie’s love of spectacle.

The outfit came from Robert Wun’s fall 2026 haute couture collection. It featured a structured, sculptural bodice and an enormous ballerina-inspired tutu made from more than 390 feet of layered tulle and nearly 200 feet of silk organza.

The real showstopper was her headpiece. The towering pink fascinator featured a tiny ballerina figurine in front of a mirror, designed to resemble an open vintage music box, and Harper’s Bazaar reported that the dancer could even rotate.

The look quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the night. On Reddit, one fan said they gasped at what they called a “PERFECT Effie Trinket” look, while others said Fanning clearly understood the assignment.

Not everyone loved every detail. One commenter thought the headpiece leaned a little too literal, though they still appreciated the overall design. Fanning paired the ensemble with a sparkling choker and kept her blonde hair pulled back, letting the dramatic headpiece take center stage.

Fanning wasn’t the only cast member leaning into character-inspired dressing. McKenna Grace, who plays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner, wore an Almée Couture gown embroidered with a landscape that echoed the film’s arena.

The dress featured a blue-and-silver sky over purple mountains, a grassy meadow and colorful wildflowers, with 3-dimensional purple blooms cascading down the skirt. It also echoed the film’s official poster, continuing Grace’s habit of method dressing for the press tour.

Fans were impressed by the bold choice. One online commenter called the resemblance to the arena “diabolical,” while another described it as one of the most beautiful dresses they had ever seen.

Fanning’s casting has been one of the more intriguing parts of the prequel. Taking over a role made famous by Banks comes with high expectations, but early reactions to the film have been largely positive.

Lionsgate executives have praised Fanning’s version of Effie for its warmth and depth. Fans will soon find out how she brings the character’s younger, earlier self to life on screen. The film boasts a star-studded ensemble alongside Fanning, Zada and Grace. Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow, while Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin and Maya Hawke round out the cast.

With early-access screenings on November 18 and a nationwide release 2 days later, the press tour is just getting started. If Fanning’s UK look is any sign, fans can expect plenty more Capitol-worthy fashion before the film opens.
