Elliot Page Shows Off Shredded New Physique Ahead of His Odyssey Debut
Elliot Page has spent the past year quietly building toward one of the biggest releases of his career, and the actor’s evolving look has become part of that story. The Juno star, who is gearing up for his role in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ has been increasingly open about how his fitness routine ties into his personal journey. That openness just took center stage again, and fans are taking notice.
Page came out as a trans man in December 2020, and he has spoken candidly since then about learning to feel at home in his body. He previously described struggling with dysphoria, recalling how summers used to be especially difficult before he found ways to feel more comfortable in his own skin. That backdrop makes his latest update feel less like a simple gym flex and more like a continuation of a much longer story.
On June 30, the X account CoveredGeekly shared the news that had fans buzzing, posting that Page revealed a shredded new look and said he is “hooked” to boxing, citing an Instagram post from the actor. In the post, Page showed off the six-pack abs he developed after taking up boxing with New York-based coach Nolan Hanson, posing shirtless alongside his trainer following a sparring session at the gym. The two have been training together at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, a venue where boxing legends like Muhammad Ali, Jake LaMotta, and Roberto Duran once trained.
Page praised Hanson as “a brilliant teacher,” crediting him not just for breaking down complex movements but also for his strategic understanding of boxing and his thoughtful approach to the psychological side of the sport. He added that training with Nolan has become an essential part of his life, and offered fans in New York a recommendation, joking they might end up just as hooked as he is. He also added that he has gotten so many other people hooked on the sport that he no longer knows what he was doing without it.
Alongside the photo, Page shared two videos of himself sparring in the ring, working through jabs and uppercuts under Hanson’s coaching. The clips quickly drew attention from fans impressed by just how conditioned the actor looked while moving through combinations.
The timing is no accident, since ‘The Odyssey’ is just weeks from release. Page plays Sinon, a Greek soldier and Odysseus’s cousin who fought alongside him in the Trojan War, in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation. Sinon was the treacherous Greek agent who convinced the Trojans to bring the wooden horse inside the city by claiming it was a sacred offering, a deception that allowed the hidden soldiers inside to sack Troy at night. The film also stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron, with Christopher Nolan writing and directing.
This is not Page’s only foray into combat training. In a 2023 interview with GQ, he explained that he uses a VR boxing program to stay in shape while traveling, calling it a game changer that helps with stress and that he can do anywhere as long as there is WiFi. That early interest seems to have evolved into a far more hands-on commitment in the ring.
With ‘The Odyssey’ arriving in theaters on July 17, Page’s boxing transformation has added another layer of anticipation to his return to a Christopher Nolan production. Fans are already buzzing about how his time in the ring might inform his take on Sinon’s cunning role in the fall of Troy. What do you think Page’s newfound boxing discipline says about how he’s approaching this Trojan War deception artist on screen?
