‘Emilia Perez’ Star Selena Gomez Stuns in Custom Red Prada at Her Rare Impact Fund Benefit, but Fans Are Talking About More Than the Dress
Selena Gomez has turned her Rare Impact Fund Benefit into one of the most anticipated charity nights on the Hollywood calendar. Launched in 2020 alongside her brand Rare Beauty, the fund works to expand young people’s access to mental health services and education worldwide, with 1% of all Rare Beauty sales going toward the cause.
This year’s event, themed “A Night of Radiance & Reflection,” took place on Wednesday, October 14, at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Sean Hayes served as emcee, with performances from Leon Bridges and Bella Kay, while Benny Blanco and Becky G were among the host committee members.
Gomez arrived on the magenta carpet in a showstopping custom red Prada gown, and photos from the night quickly went viral. But as several outlets noted, it wasn’t only the dress drawing attention, as fans online also began buzzing about her smile.
The strapless Prada creation featured a fitted, corset-style bodice covered in tonal crystals, sequins, and raised embellishments in varying sizes. An asymmetrical, peplum-like detail at the hips added drama to the fitted, calf-length skirt.

Styled by Erin Walsh, Gomez paired the gown with matching red satin pointed-toe pumps, Bucherer Baguette Love earrings and her engagement ring. A ruby-red jelly manicure by Tom Bachik and smooth dark hair finished the look.
It was a striking change from last year’s benefit, when she wore a lavender satin mini dress with a train. Several fashion outlets called the red look a dramatic departure from her usual understated glamour.
Beyond the gown, social media users zeroed in on Gomez’s smile in photos from the event. Some claimed it looked closer to her earlier, natural smile and speculated about possible dental changes.
There’s no confirmation of any of that. Gomez hasn’t commented, and as fashion outlets covering the event pointed out, lighting, camera angles, and facial expressions can easily change how a smile looks in photos.

For now, it remains fan speculation rather than news. Most of the attention from the night stayed focused on her look and the cause behind the event. The Rare Impact Fund has raised more than $30 million toward its $100 million goal. It supports 30 nonprofit partners across 5 continents and reaches about 3.5 million young people each year.
In March 2026, the fund awarded more than $2.5 million in grants to help expand the nonclinical youth mental health workforce. Gomez has spoken about how meaningful it can be for a young person to have someone in their corner, a sentiment that sits at the heart of the fund’s work.
This year’s sponsors included Ulta Beauty, Afterpay, Pacsun, Lululemon and longtime retail partner Sephora. The evening also featured a live auction and an online silent auction with items like a LeBron James-signed basketball and a wellness resort getaway.

The benefit has grown steadily since its debut in October 2023, when Martin Short hosted and H.E.R. and Marshmello performed. Last year’s event, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, raised more than $2 million with over 20 sponsors.
This year’s total hasn’t been announced yet. Rare Beauty’s Chief Impact Officer, Elyse Cohen, who also serves as the fund’s president, joined Gomez on the red carpet. The gala capped a meaningful few weeks for Gomez personally. She and husband Benny Blanco marked their first wedding anniversary on September 27, and she shared a black-and-white wedding photo on Instagram to celebrate.
Between Rare Beauty, her mental health advocacy, and her music and acting work, Gomez continues to juggle a packed schedule. Judging by the reaction to her red carpet look, she’s doing it in style.
