Emily in Paris Season 2 Release Date

Emily in Paris Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Plot, Cast, and More

For a while, it was uncertain if Emily in Paris would return for Season 2, but Netflix revealed that the fan-favorite show is coming back before the end of the year.

The new season debuts on December 22, 2021, and we’re most likely instantly getting the entire season at once. It’s perfect timing from Netflix to give us such a light, entertaining show just before the holidays. I know what I’m binge-watching under a warm blanket at home this Christmas.

Emily in Paris Season 2 Trailer

We didn’t know what the new season of Emily in Paris would be about. Of course, we still don’t know all the details, but we know where the series will kick off after Netflix released a short teaser trailer on September 25th.

We move a bit away from Paris this time, as Emily is in Saint-Tropez on vacation. She’s enjoying some local cuisine, beautiful views, and handsome men. Her two friends from Season 1, Mindy and Camilla, find her at a hotel as well, and they all embark on a joyful holiday adventure together, visiting parties at one moment while chilling poolside the other.

The entire thing seems fun, colorful, vibrant, and joyful – just what we’ve come to expect from the awesome show after the first season. As Netflix revealed at the end of the trailer: “Your French holiday awaits!”.

Emily in Paris Season 2 Plot

While there aren’t any official statements about the Season 2 plot, we have enough information to piece together where the show might be heading. Season 1 ended in a cliffhanger revolving around the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel, and Camille. Gabriel plans on leaving Paris but stays to work at his bistro because of his love interests.

As Emily is excited about the news, her friend Camille – not so much. Their chat opens up a lot of possible scenarios, but it is obvious that this love triangle will play a big role in the plot of the season.

We also learned that Emily goes on a French vacation. Seeing that her friends joined her to party, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another love interest spark up in Emily to disrupt her relationship with Daniel. Maybe it will be Antoine, who clearly has a thing for Emily – or maybe, we’ll get introduced to a completely new character.

Additionally, I’d like to see more about the characters we’ve seen and enjoyed in the first season but who haven’t gotten a lot of character development.

For instance, Mindy is an important person in Emily’s life, especially after moving into the same apartment, but we don’t know much about her life and love interests. Diving deeper into her character would be a great subplot.

The same goes for Sylvie. She seems cold, distant, and purely business-oriented, but some of her actions in Season 1 show otherwise. There are signs of a much deeper, emotional woman in her, and I bet we’ll see her take down her walls in Season 2.

Ultimately, I’d love to see more of Julien. I doubt he’ll have a major role, but his character is such a great comic relief that I hope we’ll get to enjoy throughout Season 2 as well.

Emily in Paris Season 2 Cast

A great thing about Season 2 is that the cast from Season 1 hasn’t changed that much, meaning – the characters you loved and enjoyed are here to stay.

Lily Collins returns as Emily Cooper as the lead, while Ashley Park portrays her friend, Mindy Chen, while Camille Razat returns as, interestingly, Camille.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu will continue playing Silyvie Grateau, Emily’s marketing agency boss, while Samuel Arnold will return as my favorite character, Julien. Bruno Gouery returns as Luc to complete the quirky, hilarious tandem with Arnold’s Julien.

Of course, there’s Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, the chef that’s Emily’s primary love interest, and William Abadie as Antoine Lambert – the boss of a perfume company that does business with Emily’s marketing agency who has an affinity towards the girl from Chicago.

Along with some other minor roles returning for the second season, we’ll get some new faces as well. Netflix confirmed a couple of new roles that will play a huge part in the upcoming Season 2.

I love one particular new character named Alfie, who’ll be brought to life by the British actor Lucien Laviscount. And, he’ll play just that; an Englishman with disdain toward the French culture and their way of life, which will ultimately lead to him and Emily butting heads.

He does his thing and has no interest in adapting to the French lifestyle, but I’m curious to see where the writers will go with his character. Perhaps he and Emily end up with a spark between them…

Other than Alfie, we’re getting Jeremy O. Harris playing Gregory Elliot Dupree. He was a protege of Pierre Cadault, who we’ve seen for a couple of episodes in Season 1, now being an independent, brilliant fashion designer.

Finally, Arnaud Binard’s minor role in the series has been confirmed, as he’ll play Laurent G. Laurent is an owner of a nightclub who meets Emily in business-related circumstances. Still, we don’t know much about where this plotline will lead or how it will tie to the main plot. Heck, we don’t even know what the main plot will be!

How Many Seasons Will Emily in Paris Have?

Emily in Paris Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Plot, Cast, and More

We know for certain that Emily in Paris will have two seasons, as Season 2 premieres in late December 2021. Whether there will be a Season 3 after that remains to be seen. As with virtually every other Netflix series, whether they’ll renew it for another season highly depends on the success of Season 2. If the fans enjoy it, they’ll get more.

However, even if the show is relatively successful, that doesn’t guarantee the production of a new season, as many factors can come into play here. Just look at Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Punisher series. Although the shows were quite successful on Netflix, they still got canceled due to factors and conditions unrelated to the show.

In the end, I hope Season 2 of Emily in Paris will rock just as much as Season 1, and I hope it will lead to another Season of this fantastic blend of American & French drama-comedy.
