Celebrities brought bold fashion to the red carpet at the 79th British Academy Film Awards in London. Stars including Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan, and Kerry Washington stepped out at Royal Festival Hall wearing daring and backless designs. The event, also known as the British Academy Film Awards, was full of sleek shapes and eye-catching details.

Stone, who is nominated for best actress for her role in Bugonia, chose a sharp black gown that showed a new side of her red carpet style. The dress had a halterneck, a keyhole cut-out at the front, and an open back. It was simple but bold. She wore delicate earrings and styled her hair in a loose chignon, keeping the focus on the clean lines of the look.

The gown was custom made by Louis Vuitton. It featured a fitted bodice and a long skirt that skimmed the floor. The geometric cut-out gave the classic black dress a modern feel. The open back added drama without being over the top. She finished the look with a chin-length bob and a diamond tennis bracelet that caught the light as cameras flashed.

Reporters at the event shared details of her look and spoke with her about her recent work. During interviews on the red carpet, she talked about working again with director Yorgos Lanthimos. I love working with Yorgos, she said. I love the material that he is drawn to and the worlds he wants to explore, and the characters that he has been generous enough to let me try my hand at.

She also opened up about how demanding her recent roles have been. A lot of these stories require a fair amount emotionally but also physically, she explained. We become comfortable physically with each other and emotionally—not feeling embarrassed at being close, or whatever.

Stone has stayed busy over the past year. She starred in the television series The Curse and the film Kinds of Kindness. She continues to choose unusual and challenging projects. Through her production company, Fruit Tree, which she founded with her husband Dave McCary, she is also working behind the scenes.

She also starred in Eddington, a new film from director Ari Aster. The movie features a large cast including Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler.

From bold fashion choices to intense movie roles, Stone continues to take risks. Her latest red carpet look showed confidence and control, while her upcoming films promise more dramatic transformations.
